Biography

Mary (Snyder) Rohrbaugh has German Roots.

Mary was born 11 September 1808 in Pennsylvania.[1] About 1832 she married Samuel Müller Rohrbach, son of Heinrich Rohrbach and Anna Christiana Müller.[citation needed] The couple settled in Manheim Township, York County, Pennsylvania, where they raised their eight children:

  • Elias (b. 11 February 1834;[2] d. unmarried 11 March 1856).[3]
  • Rebecca (b. 21 August 1835;[4] m. Henry Fair Warner;[5] d. 24 April 1870).[4] Two sons.
  • Maryann (b. 12 December 1838;[6] d. unmarried 28 April 1915).[7]
  • John (b. 30 January 1840;[8] m. Lucy A Werner;[9] d. 16 July 1914).[10] No issue.

Living together on the farm in Manheim Township in 1850 were her husband Samuel (age 43) and Mary (42) and their children Elias (17, farmer), Rebecca (15), Maryann (11), John (10), Harry (6), Sarah Ann (4) and Samuel (1).[16]

Some of the children were on their own by 1860, leaving in Manheim Township Samuel (age 53, farmer), Mary (51), Sarah (12), Maryann (21), John (19, farmhand), William Henry (16, farmhand) and Samuel (11).[17]

In 1870 only Samuel (age 63, farmer), Mary (52). Maryann (30) and Henry (24) remained in the family home in Codorus Township, York County.[18] Still living together in 1880 were Samuel (age 73, still farming) and Polly (70), Sarah (29), Mary Ann (30) and Samuel (24).[9] Her husband died later that year.[19]

Anna Maria died 27 January 1887 in Manheim Township and was buried at Saint Emanuel's Union Cemetery.[1]
