Wife of Lars Leif Sokvitne (b 3 October 1908, d 20 February 1987). Along with her sister Martha (Snyder) Maier and brother David Homer, was a co-owner of the Joseph Schneider house and property following the death of their father. In 1966, she successfully lobbied the Archaeological and Historic Sites Board of Ontario to erect an official plaque on the site explaining the significance of the old house and its historic link to the community. In March 1975, she along with her co-owner siblings, sold the property to the City of Kitchener. The City retained some of the lands around the house for the purpose of transforming it for flood control but sold the rest to Waterloo Regional Heritage Foundation who then proceeded with extensive restoration to return the buildings to their 1850s appearance and operate it as a museum.
She compiled Hannes Schneider, and his wife Catharine Haus Schneider, Their Descendants and Times 1534-1939, published in Kitchener, 1940. This is a special order book from the Ontario library loan system. She was a faithful and active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Trained at St. Mary's, she became a public health nurse with the Waterloo County School Board. She served as President of the Waterloo Historical Society. Buried at the First Mennonite Cemetery in Kitchener.
