Biography

Helen and Homer were married in the bride's home. Reverend Thomas Scott, father of Homer, performed the ceremony. She didn't have a middle name so her mother said she could use the initial S. The Scott's came to Denver, Colorado in 1919. After a year in Denver they located on a farm northeast of Byers, Colorado for six years. In 1926 they moved to another farm south of Strasburg. After a hailstorm destroyed their wheat crop they moved to town, building a home on Main Street in Strasburg in 1944. Helen raised nine children and was a devoted wife and mother. She and her eldest son, Sanford, moved to a smaller house on Main Street in 1973. She was a member of the Strasburg Presbyterian Church. Helen suffered from a stroke. She spent her final days in a nursing home in Limon, Colorado. She is buried in the Byers Cemetery, Byers, Colorado.
