In the 1910 census Ruth (age 9) was the cousin of Charley H Gunther in Pittsburgh Ward 16, Allegheny, Pennsylvania, United States.^[1]

In the 1920 census Ruth (age 18) was the single daughter of Charles H Gunther in Westmoreland, Pennsylvania, United States.^[2]

Ruth M Snyder Guenther, daughter of C. H. Guenther, married Carl J. Theis on 2 November 1926 in New Kensington, Pennsylvania, United States.^[3]

In the 1930 census Ruth (age 28) was the wife of Carl Thies in Parnassus, Westmoreland, Pennsylvania, United States.^[4]

In the 1940 census Ruth (age 38) was the wife of Carl Theis in Arnold, New Kensington, Westmoreland, Pennsylvania, United States.^[5]

In the 1950 census Ruth (age 48) was the wife of Carl J. Theis in Brooklyn Heights Village, Cuyahoga, Ohio, United States.^[6]

Ruth was mentioned in the obituary of her husband Carl J Theis on 23 April 1991 in Cleveland, Cuyahoga, Ohio, United States.^[7]

Research Note

John Snyder and Augusta Hotze are her named parents according to her U.S., Social Security Applications and Claims Index.^[10] Believe her mother died before 1910 as she does not appear in any records after 1900 Census. Apparently raised or possibly adopted by Charles Guenther where she shows up as cousin on his 1910 Census data. He is the son of Peter Guenther and Augusta Guenther of Pittsburgh, originally of Germany. Have not found the connection listing them as cousin yet or proper adoption records. Appears as daughter Ruth Gunther[sic] on the 1920 Census. She uses both Snyder and Guenther from 1920 Census onward. She is mistakenly named with birth name of Guenther on some Family Histories.
