DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Benjamin by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Benjamin:
This biography still needs clean up from the merge late last year. Also, the sourcing needs some attention -- right now, the primary source for the inline citations are all DAR lineage application database records, which are not considered Reliable Sources for Southern Colonies Project profiles. Is one of the profile managers or anyone else who has a special interest in this profile willing to take a crack at cleaning it up?
Soblet-1 and Sublett-295 appear to represent the same person because: same dates/look to be intended to be same person. in absence of primary sources, I proposed merge into Sublett. Let me know if you have documentation to the contrary. Thanks!
According to the book "The Sublett (Soblet) Family of Manakintown, King William Parish, Virginia" by Cameron Allen, F.A.S.G., "The 23d April, 1733, was born Bainjamain Soblet, son of Pierre Louys Soblet and of Marte, his wife; had for godfather, Gedeon Chanbon, and Wollter Stot; for godmother, Anne David. The parties have declared that he was born the day and year above named," quoting R. A. Brock, "Huguenot Emigration to Virginia," p. 88 (citing Jean Chastain, clerk).
So his birth name was Benjamin Soblet, and later in life his name was anglicized to Sublett. So this page should have been merged into Soblet-1 before being changed to "protected" status (I'm not sure if that knot can be untied now).
Based on that, I would agree that the LNAB should be Soblet. I've added the information and source to the bio. Thanks for providing it. Liz is a leader and can remove PPP as needed, so no worries about any knots! ;)
