Biography

Joseph M. was the son of Sapiel Thomas Sockalexis and Mary Sarah Lola.

Joseph and his wife Martha and daughter Mary (b.1880) are listed in the 1880 Census.^[1]however Census taker misspelled the surname, leaving the "a" out.

Joseph M Sockalexis and his wife Martha Socabesin (Socabeson) are mentioned in their son Edward's Maine Vital Records Marriage Record on 29 Aug 1911. The marriage was in Old town Indian Island, Knox, Maine, USA where most if not all of the Socklexis family originates.

The Sockalexis' are connected to the baseball player Louis Francis Sockalexis in one way or another. ^[2]

Joseph M died at the age of 56, ( it looks like his death certificate says he was Run over by Cars).^[3]
