The Sockalexis family name comes from the Oldtown, Penobscot County area in Maine. The oldest grave (that is known) is that of Francis Sockalexis born 1842 who was the father of the first "First Nations" (Indian) major league ball player, Louis. It may very well be that this family is connected.
