DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Alfred by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Alfred:
Mom believes the brothers who were all named Carl must have gone by their middle names. If so, the siblings she entered would fit. There is one sibling she does not know about, who must have died young, or something.
Minnesota Death records show that his parents were John A. Soderholm and Mary K. Magnuson.
According to the 1910 US Census, John was born about 1855 In Sweden, and.John came to US in 1880. Mary was also born in Sweden about 1862, and she came to the US in 1885. They had (at least) 5 children: Roy, Carl A.R., Carl P., Mary A., and Carl. (Yep, 3 Carl's.)
A Johan Alfred Soderholme died in Saint Louis County, MN, on 9 Apr 1914. I think this is the correct person, as Mary is a widow in 1920.
