Joseph Soileau, son of Godfroy Soileau and Marie Fontenot, was born on 2 July 1808 and baptized on 15 June 1809, his birth and baptism were recorded at St. Landry Catholic Church,

He married Lucie Guillory on 12 June 1827, their marriage was recorded at St. Landry Catholic Church, Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.
