George was born in 1844 in Worsbrough, Yorkshire, England.[1] His father was William Sokell and his mother was Elizabeth Taylor. He was christened on 6 April 1845 at Worsbrough Parish Church, Yorkshire.[2][3]
in 1851 he lived with his parents and sister at Wilkinson Row, Worsbrough, Yorkshire[4]
He still lived with his parents and siblings in 1861, but the family had moved to Wombwell Main, Wombwell, Yorkshire[5]
In 1869 he married Ann Sykes. The marriage was registered at Barnsley, Yorkshire.[6]
George and Ann lived with their family at Wombwell Main, Wombwell, Yorkshire[7][8][9] George was a coal miner.
In 1901 George and Ann had moved to 117 Penistone Road, Sheffield, Yorkshire where George was an Inn Keeper working at home on his own account.[10]
George passed away in 1902.[11] He was buried on 20 March 1902 in Wombwell Cemetery [12]
