Saul married 3 times:

  • Margaret Lee, of Holland (1 October 1782-14 June 1815)
  • Mary Chamberlain, St. Helena (1790-23 June 1823)
  • Harriet Bryan, St. Helena (1800-?)

1806 - Extract from Phillip Gosse's book:

  • Surname Solomon, Forename(s) Saul, Age , Gender m, Title , Nationality English, Year 1806, Date , Ship , Event Managed the first printing press on the Island., Notes Initially private, taken over by the Company in 1807.

Saul Solomon died in Portishead, Somerset, England at his son in law's house, Eastwood, on 6 December 1852 of "softening of the brain, paralysis & apoplexy, 9 months certified". His body was "smuggled" back to St. Helena for burial by his daughter, Miriam, & was buried at the north wall of the St. James Church in Jamestown, St. Helena. [3] [4]

Brother, Henry, mentioned in bio above, does not have a Wikitree profile.
Wikipedia entry for the "Cape Argus" states it was founded with two other partners: Bryan Henry Darnell and Richard William Murray. No mention of Henry Solomon. [5]

This Saul Solomon is the son of Joseph Solomon & Hannah Moss of St. Helena Island. The DOB & DOD belong to his uncle Saul Solomon, but he didn't die in Scotland, but in Somerset, England.
