Source: S592 stroke, after 5 month illness at the home of his son Ewald. He was survived by a sister in Dalton, Green Lake Co, WI and his eight children - William of Canada, Ewald of Fall Creek, Mathilda of Canada, Bertha of Augusta, henry of Eau Claire, Martha, Carl and Clara of Fall Creek as well as 30 grandchildren. According to his obituary, he had been confined to his bed for about three months in which time he couldn't and didn't do much talking or eating, as his throat was affected by the stroke - however, his mind was clear and he knew everyone at all time
