Charlie was born September 12, 1836, in Germany. He married Mary in 1865, then immigrated to the US in 1873.
His Obituary reads as following: PIONEER CITIZEN OF GRAYSON PASSES AWAY
C.W. Sommerfeldt, a well known Sherman citizen, passed away at the family home 215 West Mulberry street, Tuesday afternoon at 4:10 o'clock, at the age of 86 years. Mr. Sommerfeldt had resided in Grayson County for more than 44 years, locating in this county within a short time after coming to Texas.
Funeral services will be held at an hour not yet decided Thursday afternoon.
Mr. Sommerfeldt engaged in farming when he came to this country and continued this occupation until his retirement several years ago.
Surviving him are two sons, Gus Sommerfeldt, of Sherman, and Fred Sommerfeldt, of Denison, and four daughters, Mrs. R.G. Lanham, Mrs. Ross Stark and Mrs Ollie Hunter, of Sherman, and Mrs. Martha Shrader, Manchester, Mo.
Mr. Sommerfeldt had long held the close friendship and warm esteem of a great number of persons who admired him for his uprightness and fair dealing with all with whom he came in contact.
