Samuel Soper, eldest child of John and Mary Soper was born February 20, 1685, in Hull, Massachusetts. On October 28, 1708, in Boston, Massachusetts, Samuel married Mary Lyon, who was baptized May 23, 1685, in Dorchester, Massachusetts, a daughter of Elhanan Lyon, and by her he had two sons:

• Samuel Soper, Jr. born October 10, 1709, in Boston, christened November 1, 1709, died August 23, 1749, in Bridgewater, Massachusetts, married Esther Littlefield, a daughter of Edmund LIttlefield and Bethia Waldo

• Elhanan Soper, born October 3,1711, in Boston

Samuel Soper, Sr. died December 27, 1713, in the same year that his father died. ^[1]
