Marie was born in 1909. She was the daughter of George Sorgard and Agnes Matthews. She passed away about 2004. ^[1]

The James Holland Arthur Family as written by family in Family Gathering booklet Homecoming 1980 The late James Holland Arthur was born July 6, 1908. He arrived in Canada from Scotland with his parents - the late Mr. and Mrs. Kennedy Arthur in 1909. they settled on a farm 1/2 mile south of Iron Springs, which was the original Robert Arthur homestead. On December 17, 1929, he married Marie Arline Sorgaard, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Sorgard. She was born April 21, 1909. They lived on a farm one mile north of Iron Springs where they farmed for many years. In 1952 they sold their farm and moved to Lethbridge on March 17, 1953. They have five daughters, ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Jean Marie, the eldest of the family was born July 8, 1931. She married John Gergel of Turin on November 18, 1952. They have four sons: Rodney John, Leslie James, Darren Mark and Allan Michael. Rodney was born on Dec. 22, 1953 and has three children - - Barry, Jason, and Angela. Leslie, born June 3, 1957 married Linda Peever of Picture Butte on November 16, 1979. They live on a farm in Turin. Darren, born Feb 25, 1961 and Allan, born May 31, 1966 are both residing at home in Turin. Marlene Evelyn was born Nov. 19, 1934. She married Bert Bosch of Lethbridge on December 16, 1955. They have three children: Gregory Bert, Debra Marie and Clark James. Gregory was born January 23, 1957 and is presently in California employed with Geophysical Services. Debbie was born August 12, 1958. She married Frank DeCoste of Lethbridge on September 29, 1979 and they reside in Lethbridge. Clark was born August 12, 1961 and is presently attending the University of Lethbridge. He lives at home with his parents in Lethbridge. Shirley Agnes was born June 13, 1938. She married Arthur Boyd of Lethbridge on October 4, 1957. Art passed away October 24, 1959. She resides in Lethbridge. Margaret Faye was born Feb. 21, 1940. She married Jim Ripley of Spring Coulee on July 15, 1961. They have two daughters: Lori Lynne and Jacqueline Marie. They were born March 26, 1966 and June 27, 1968 respectively. The both reside at home in Taber. Gail Diane was born on September 4, 1943. She married Laurance Jones of Lethbridge on August 15, 1964 and they reside at Burnaby, B.C. They have one daughter Brenda Diane, who was born July 30, 1968 and she lives at home. Jim and Marie celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary on December 17, 1979. Jim Arthur passed away in Lethbridge on April 18, 1980.
