Biography

  • Lawrence Porter Soule was born 9 March 1831 in Duxbury, Massachusetts, the son of Capt. Stephen Soule and Lydia Pierce. He married Mercie Eldridge.

In 1865, the Soule family lived in Foxborough, Norfolk, Massachusetts. The household included Lawrence P. Soule, 34, a mason; his wife Mercie, 33; and their two sons, Winthrop P., 5, born in Minnesota; and Parker, 4. All were born in Massachusetts, except for Winthrop. [1]

In 1870, the Soule family lived in Lawrence, Essex, Massachusetts. All members of the household were born in Massachusetts, except as noted. The household included Lawrence Soule, 39, a brick mason and plasterer, with $6000 in real estate and $1200 in personal estate; his wife Mercy B., 36; their children, Winthrop P., 11, born in Minnesota, in school; Parker F., 8, in school; and Laura L., 1.[2]

In 1880, the Soule family lived in Cambridge, Massachusetts. All were born in Massachusetts, as were their parents, except as noted. The household included Lawrence P. Soule, 49, a mason builder; his wife Mercy P., 45; their children, Winthrop P., 21, born in Minnesota, a clerk in a store; Parker F., 18, store clerk; Laura L., 10, in school; and Florence D., 3. Also living with them was a servant, Ellen Partridge, 28, born in Ireland.[3]

  • Lawrence began apprenticeship in masonry in 1850, and in 1881 he was one of nine who founded the Master Builders Association. Lawrence married Mercie Eldridge in 1857. He died in 1910, aged 79, in Cambridge, MA, and is buried with his wife in Mayflower Cemetery, Duxbury, MA. [4] [5]

Lawrence Porter Soule was born in Duxbury, Massachusetts, the son of Stephen and Priscilla Soule. He was married when he died in Cambridge, Massachusetts on 21 October 1910. [6]
