Biography
John came west as a "forty-niner," spending time in Cottage Grove and Happy Camp, CA working his way up the Klamath River, where he met and married a native American woman, Jennie or Jane. After her death he relocated to Curry County, OR.
He and Jennie had only one son, R. Lee, before her death. In the 1870s he remarried to a white pioneer woman, Elmira.
