LUCAS ITEMS
Died - Thursday, Oct. 25, 1892, from the effects of injuries received on the 24th by being struck by a wagon tongue, Mr. A. Southward, aged 47 years, 9 months and 5 days. It is thought heart disease had more or less of an effect in causing his sudden demise.
He leaves a wife and six children. What is their loss is Heaven's gain.
Funeral services were conducted at the M. E. church. Rev. Aton delivered a short address from the text found in Rev. 4:4. "Jesus Lover of My Soul" was softly sung, after which the remains were interred in the Cleveland (Fry Hill) cemetery, to rest in peace evermore.
A large company of friends attended the last rites to pay respect to an honored neighbor and Christian brother. May the grief stricken ones have the consolation that God wills all things for the best.
