Research Note

There seems to be two Lakeman Southwick's. This man is the 28 year old butcher from Beverly who served in the Civil War. In the 1895 City Directory for Salem, MA, Augusta W. Southwick is listed at the widow of Lakeman.[11]

The Lakeman Southwick who died 4 Oct 1901 and is buried in Hamilton, Massachusetts, [12] was married to Mary A. Brewer, and had children born in 1881 and 1888.

Census Mary's husband
1880 Living in Kanwaka, Kansas, age 44 (1836), farmer, two children
1900 Living in Hamilton, Married in 1874, 3 children

So, either there are two Lakeman Southwick's, or this man was a bigamist.
