Biography

Joseph Southworth was born in Durham, Connecticut, 7 April 1754. He was a son of Joseph Southworth and Mary Seward.

Joseph married 26 April 1786, Wait Miller (1762 - 1815), daughter of Rebecca (Alvord; 1718-1796) and Zebadiah Miller (1713-1785). There were several children of this family, these of whom are documented:

  • Asa Southworth, 1793–1870; married Achsa Wood
  • Nancy Southworth, b. 1795; married Noah Sheldon
  • Persis Southworth, 30 March 1802 – 28 February 1871; married Henry Crowell

Joseph Southworth died 4 November 1828 at Southampton, Massachusetts. His grave is in West Cemetery, Southampton, Hampshire County, Massachusetts, USA [1].
