Biography
Áed mac Eochaid Tirmcharna (died between 561[1] and 577[2]) was a King of Connacht from the Uí Briúin branch of the Connachta[3]. He came to the throne in the year 557 and is said to have ruled to 561 or 577 depending on the source. Aed was the 9th Christian King of Connacht[4]
During his reign, Áed's son Curnan mac Aed Profile, was 'ar comairce Coluim chilli - under Colum Cille's protection', and was killed by Diarmait mac Cerbaill. The result was the Battle of Cúl Dreimne[5][6][7] in 560
His other son Uata Macaodha (abt.0550-0600) was a later King of Connacht.
