The Great Emergency of 1862
- The call of July 1862 for 300,000 men saw the formation of this regiment.
- An add in the Mifflinburg Telegraph
- This filled the positions of 1st and 2nd Lieutenant and quickly after the first company.
- Many men were listed as 18 or above but many were just below 18.
- There was one man listed as 45 but he was more like 55; William Dollard

Men of note
- William Bordner had a iron scald on his foot that enflamed and he was at first denied service but was allowed later allowed into the company. This inflammation led to his capture. He was later released.
- Captain Jacob M Moyer was the brother of George W Moyer
