1741 Clay Avenue, San Diego

Originally I thought that these children were placed in my Great-Grandfather's household possibly by welfare authorities. Now, I think that this was a "day care" situatuation while their parent or parents worked.

Number 1 & 2 Siblings

Pearl Sprague (Pearl Eva Sprague) and Eva Sprague (Ellen Ruth Sprague)

It maybe a stretch but I think that Eva was really Ellen. Both girls were born in Nebraska not California. California may have been the "default" answer when the actual information is not available.

1910 Census boarders at Fayette Austin residence on Clay Street.

"United States Census, 1910," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MVLY-GSH : accessed 21 May 2019), Frank Strehel, San Diego Ward 9, San Diego, California, United States; citing enumeration district (ED) ED 164, sheet 8A, family 204, NARA microfilm publication T624 (Washington D.C.: National Archives and Records Administration, 1982), roll 95; FHL microfilm 1,374,108.

The only difference is the spelling of the last names and the location of birth of Christine which is not California. Could my great-grandparents have taken in children daily rather that the long term implication of "boarder".
