1st Colorado Cavalry Roster

1st Colorado Cavalry Roster

1st Colorado Cavalry Roster

The goal of this project is to ...add Profiles, biographies, Sources, images of military documents.
BUT mostly to locate where they were laid to rest so we can honor the ones that have not been found yet. (among the UNMARKED/Unknown graves of Franktown Cemetery, Colorado)

FOUND! a newspaper article [1]"Respectfully, C.S. Burdsal, First Asst. Surgeon, 3rd Colorado Cavalry, Ft. Lyon

THIS letter tells us all of the Killed in Action and the Wounded who were brought back to Fort Lyon were then laid to rest at Fort Lyon"
HOWEVER, according to the bio on f-a-g "Shortly after its establishment in 1887," Must be 2 Fort Lyon's in Colorado, one at least was there in 1864.......................
YES, here is the original Fort Lyon Post Cemetery, Location: Bent County, Colorado,
Memorials 111 added NOT 1 photo of a headstone...........

Right now this project just has 4 members,

  1. me. I am Carole Taylor
  2. Hyla jenks
Please see the 3rd Colorado ROSTER list for the example of what we need to have listed.

Here are some of the tasks that I think need to be done. I'll be working on them, and could use your help.

  • LIST the 41 Soldiers that are already LISTED on the Category page DONE
  • find the fold3 ROSTER/The fold3 starts with Achey, James B. ROSTER muster cards/add copies to Profiles TOTAL:3,940 some are dups
  • search for personal history
  • search for burial location

Will you join me? Please post a comment here on this page, in G2G using the project tag, or send me a private message. Thanks!

[citation needed] for the burial place for the 9 soldiers KIA at Sand Creek and then the 38 that were WIA and later died of wounds.
