The 24th Regiment, United States Colored Infantry (USCI) was organized at Camp William Penn, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, beginning January 30 to March 30, 1865. They moved to Washington, D. C., May 5th, and duty at Camp Casey until June 1st. The regiment was at Point Lookout, Maryland, guarding prisoners until July 16th. They then moved to Richmond, Virginia, and duty in Sub-District of Roanoke, Headquarters at Burkesville, until September. They moved to Richmond, Virginia, and there mustered out October 1, 1865.
