Is his father John Walton?
1692 Deed from Bowman --> John Waltum of Somerset, MD [1] 200 acres "on the North Side of Cedar Creek.
John Walton in Sussex County [2], will proved ?1706 (but filed in with 1725-ish wills) leaves bequest to a son George. Also mentions Cedar Creek property, consistent with Waltons I am looking for.
