Whereas Abraham Garrigues of the City of Philadelphia in the Commonweath of Pennsylvania Merchant son of William Garrigues of the same place and Mary his Wife deceased, and Esther Marshall daughter of Benjamin Marshall deceased and Sarah his wife having declared their intentions of marriage with each other before several Monthly Meetings of the People called Quakers, at Philadelphia aforesaid according to the good order used amongst them and having consent of Parents, their proposals were allowed of by this Meeting. Now these are to Certify whom it may concern that for the full accomplishing their Intentions this third day of the twelvth month in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninty five they the said Abraham M Garrigues and Esther Marshall appeared in a public Meeting of the Peopleat their meeting house in High Street in Philadelphia aforesaid, and the said Abraham M Garrigues taking the s'd Esther Marshall by the hand, did in a solemn manner openly declare that he took her the s'd Esther Marshall to be his Wife promising through the Lord's Assistance to be unto her a loving and faithful Husband until Death should seperate them. And then in the same Assembly the s'd Esther Marshall did in like manner declare that she took him the s'd Abraham M Garrigues to be her Husband promising through the Lord's Assistance to be unto him a faithfull and affectionate Wife until Death should seperate them. And moreover they the s'd Abraham M Garrigues and Esther Marshall (she acording to the custom of Marriage assuming the name of her Husband) as a further confirmation thereof, did then and there to these presents set their hands, and we whose names are hereunder also subscribed being present at the solemnization of the s'd Marriage and subscription, have as witnesses thereof set our hands the day and year above written.
