1739 Pridgett posts bond to Charles Beall

Prince George's Land Records 1739-1743 - Liber Y - Page 47. Bond. Jun 25, 1739. 1, John Pridgett of PG, am bound to Charles Beall in the just sum of 15 £ sterling, to which payment truly to be made, I bind myself. Whereas sd Pridgett, having received full satisfaction for some differences in a certain conveyance of land from sd Beall to sd Pridgett, if Pridgett forever hereafter acquits Beall from all damages and other troubles that may hereafter arise for Beall from a tract of land called Huntington, now in possession of John Abington's heirs, and likewise from a tract of land called Fringship, now in possession of the family of Stodderts, from this time and forever hereafter, then the afd bond to be void. 1762 Boundary Dispute on Marshall's Adventure

Prince George's County, Maryland Land Records 1759-1763; Liber RR {Abstract by Mike Marshall}; Page 229. At the request of Josias Marshall the following Land Commission was recorded abt June 24, 1762[4]

  • Memorandum that on the special petition of Josias Marshall preferred to the justices of Prince George's County, Maryland on the 4th Tuesday in March in the 10th year of his Lordship commission the Right Hon. the Lord Proprietary Dominion etc., his Lordship commission issued by order of the justices aforesaid out of the county aforesaid on April 15, 1761 in these words following,
  • Frederick Absolute Lord and Proprietary of the Province of Maryland and Avalon Lord Baron of Baltimore vizt;
  • to Messrs Nathaniel Magruder, is Thomas Gantt, Jr., John Tolson and John Lowe, Jr. of PGCo Gentleman,
  • whereas Josias Marshall, is seized of a tract called "Marshall's Adventure" and preferred his petition in writing to our county court held at Upper Marlborough Town to prove and perpetuate the memory of the bounds of the said tract of land.
  • Therefore, we command you any three or two of you to examine all witnesses or persons concerned touching their knowledge of the bounds of the said tract.
  • Witness Francis Waring, Gentleman, March 27, 1761. Issued April 15, 1761, Joseph Sim, Clk
  • Pursuant to a commission to examine evidences to prove the bounds of "Marshall's Adventure" hereby give notice that we intend to meet at the lands on Monday, November 2nd next.
  • Witness our hands and seals this September 1, 1761, Nathaniel Magruder, John Tolson, John Lowe, Jr.
  • Andrew Hamilton age 46 years at a marked white oak standing in a small valley about 40 yards to the southward of Oxon Branch and about 60 yards to the eastward of the main road leading from Bladensburg to Broad Creek deposes that to the best of his remembrance about 24 or 25 years ago he was at work at Dunkin Ferguson's when Mr. Richard Marshall, Thomas Marshall and Charles Beall, deceased came there and got him to show them the tree aforesaid and begun to run the said Richard Marshall's land at that tree and at the same time it appeared to be fairly bounded and further this deponent saith not.
  • At the same time and at the tree aforesaid Charles Beall aged 35 years deposes that 24 years ago he came with Richard Marshall, Thomas Marshall and his father Charles Beall to run Richard Marshall's land and saw them begin to run the land at a bounded white oak but thinks it stood near Oxen Branch. Thence we proceeded to a bounded white oak standing about 10 yards the southward of Oxon Branch and about 30 yards northeast from the tree proved by Andrew Hamilton when;
  • Philip Evans, Sr., aged 67 deposes that about 30 years ago Mr. Richard Marshall came to this deponents father Walter Evans to show him the beginning tree of the land that Josias Marshall now lives on and he went with them to the tree aforesaid and was present George Clagett, John Beall and George Noble the surveyor when his father Walter Evans showed the aforesaid tree to be the beginning tree of the land of Richard Marshall was then going to run out and ran each escheat warrant and according to Mr. Noble the surveyor laid off the land from the tree and George Clagett aforesaid and this deponent carried the chain and further saith not. The aforegoing depositions taken by us the subscribers this November 2, 1761, Nathaniel Magruder, John Tolson, John Lowe, Jr.
