In the name of God amen The xxvij th dae of Marche in the yere of our Lorde God 1564 And in the sixth yere of the raigne of o’ souveraige ladie Elixabeth by the grace of god of England France and Ireland Quene defendor of the faithe etc I Robert Adyn of the borough towne of Dorchester in the Countie of Dorset draper of the dioces of Bristol beinge of perfect memory and remembrance praise be given to almightie God doe make this my p’te or testament and last will in mannor and forme following that is to saie first I commend my soule unto almightie god my maker and redemer and my bodie to be buried within the parish church of Saint Peter within the said borough of Dorchester directly before the seate wherein I doe customably used to sitt within the said parrishe churche
Item I give and bequeath towards the maintenance of the said parrishe church of Saint Peter vis viijd And I give and bequeath unto every of the parrish churches of the Holy Triinite of All Saintes within the said borough of Dorchester jjis iiijd
I I give and bequeath unto Robert Adyn my sonne the burgage with all and singular th’appurtennces set lying and being in the easte syde of the South Streate now or late in the tenure or ocupation of one Richard Mayland And I give and bequeath to the said Robert Adyn my sonne the burgages houses buildings rooms orchards and gardens with all and singular th’app’tt’ances to the same belonging set lying and being within the said borough towne of Dorchester in the north syde of the Highe East Streat their nowe or late in the several tenures and occupations of Roger Bayle William Toron and John Chubb together with my yardes of grounds lying and being in the West wealles of the said borough (West Walls?) and nowe or late in the tenure and ocupacion of one Roder Dier Snd also I give and bequeath unto the said Robert Adin my son the burgage with th’appurtennces which I latelie purchased of John Adminston set lying and being in the parrish of All Saints within the said borough of Dorchester at the South ende of all hallows church lane And moreover I give and bequeath unto the said Robert Adin my sonne the messsuage burgage or tenenment shoppe sellers houses buildings and roomes withall and singuler th’appurtenances to the same belonging sett lying and being within the borough towne of Melcombe Regis in the said Countie of Dorset and nowe or late in the sev’all tenures holdings and occpacions of William Hooper and Edmond Knaplocl to have and to holde all the foresaid messuages burgages or tenements houses buildings grounds orchardes gardens cellers and roomes above specified within the said boroughs of Dorchester and Melcombe regis unto the said Robert Adyn my sonne and to t’heires of his body lawfully begotten fprever And yf the said Robert Adyn my sonne decest without yssue of his body lawfully begotten as is aforesaid then my mynde and will is I then give and bequeathe all the foresaid messuages burgages or tenements and all other premisses with there appurte’nces within the said boroughs of Dorchester and Melcombe regis above specified and recited unto Luke Adyn my sonne and to t’heires of his body lawfully begotten forever And if the said Luke Adyn my sonne shall fortune to decease without heires of his body lawfully begotten Then my mynde and will is And I give and bequeath the said messuages burgages or tenements and other the premisses above mencioned and recited within the siad boroughes of Dorchester and Melcombe Regis withall and singuler th’appt’ttennces to the same belonging unto Edith Mary Alice and Johan my daughters and to their heires and assignes forewver
Item I give and bequeath to the said Luke Adyn my son the burgage or tennement withall and singuler th’appurtenannces therunto belonging sett lying and being within the said borough of Dorchester in the east syde of the High South Steat there and nowe or late in the tenure and occupc'on of John Bollsdon. And I give and bequeath to the said Luke my sonn the burgage or t’ente withall and singuler th’appurtenannces sett lying and being within the said boroughe of Dorchester in the north syde of the High Streat within the said boroughe of Dorchester nexte to the southe part of the churchyarde of the said parrishe church of Saint Peter and nowe or late in the tenure or ocupation of John Scott.And I give and bequeath to the foresaid Luke Adyn my sonn all those ij messuages burgages or tenements with their appurtenannces sett lying and being joyned together within the eaid boroughe of Dorchester at the uttermost ende of the Weaster syde of the South Streat of the said boroughe of Dorchester and nowe or late in the tenure of Roger Dier and John [Pueted?].And moreover I give and bequeath to the said Luke Adyn my sonne all the messuage or tenement with th’appurtennances set lying and being in Froome Vauchurch within the parrishe of Mayden Newton in the said County of Dorset And all houses buildings landes medowes [leasures?] pastures commons fedings commodities proffets and advantages to the said messuage or tenemnet in Frome Vauchurch or els where appetening or anywise belonging and nowe or late in the tenure of one Thomas Whitell And furthermore I give and bequeath to the aforesaid Luke Adyn my sonne all that yerelie and chefe rentt of eight shillings and one pound weight of peper to be yerelie paied and borne out of certaine landes and tenements in East Shilhyinpton vulgarlie called east Shilvington which John Samwaies there nowe holdeth and occupyeth And also I give and bequeath to the said Luke my sonne one garden or garden fround w’th th’appur’tennces lying and being within the said boroughe of Dorchester in the Sounth syde of a burgage of William Aden and lieth in length from the said burgage of Will’am Aden Southward untill p’rall of a bursaig or garden plott of John Samwaies of Toller F’rum gent [Toller Fratrum] which garden or garden ground is now or hath late been divided that is to witt the souther parte in the holding of me the said Robert Aden and the north parte therof in the tenure and boling of one Robert Baylie To have and to houlde the foresaid messuages burgates tenements houses buildings orchardes gardens meddowes leasues pastures commons feedings yerelie or chef rentt peper proffetts commodities and advantatges whatsoever they be with there appurtennces in Dorchester East Shilhinpton and Frome Vauchurch unto the said Luke Aden my sonn and to the heires of his bodie lawfully begotten for ever , And if hit shall fortune the said Luke my sonne to decease without heires of his body lawfully begotten as is aforesaid then my will and mynde is And I give and bequeath the messuage burgaiges lands and tenements with their appur tn’nnces above specifieed and recited in the giften and legacie of the said Luke Adin my sonne unto the foresaid Robert Adyn my sonn and to t’heires of his bodie lawfully begotten for ever
And for lacke of such issue the same to remaine to my daughters Edith, Mary Alice and Johan my daughters and to their heirs and assignes for ever .And the said messuages lands burgaiges tenements with their appurten’nnces unto the said Robert and Luke my sonnes given and bequeathed to be holden of their lordes of the same [fees?]for ever
Item I give and bequeath unto every of my said sonnes Robert and Luke twenty pounds of good and lawfull monney of England to be paied and delivered to them and uppon their deverall days wherin they shalbe married,And I give and bequeath to every of my said sonnes Robert and Luke fyve pounds of good and lawful monney of England to be in likewise manner delivered in and upon theseverall daies of their marriadges for and towardes the charges of their apparell and other necessaries then and there aboute to be had and provided.
Item I give and bequeath to the saide Robert my sonne a goblet with a cover to the saime being guilte and a gilt stone pott with a cover and hits garnish guilt.
Item I give unto the said Luke my sonne one goblet parcell gilt without a cover and one sone pott covered with silver.
Item I give to the said Edith my daughter fourtie poundes of good and lawfull monney of England to be delivered and paide unto her in and uppon the daie of her marriage and one ale cupp of silver with a cover gilt unto her in and uppon the daie of her marriage and one ale cupp of silver with a cover gilt.
Item I give unto the said Mary my daughter fourtie poundes of good and lawfull money of England to be paied and delivered her in and uppon the daie of her marriage and one flatt pece of silverparcell guilt which was my fathers
Item I give and bequeath to the said Alice my daughter fourtie pounds of good and lawfull monney of England to be delivered and paied herin and uppon the daie of her marriage and one dozen of silver spoones which I lately bought newe.
Item I give and bequeath to Johan my daughter fourtie poundes of good and lawfull monney of England to be paid and delivered to her in and uppon the daie of her marriage And one salte of silver with a cover gilte and one half a dozen of silver spoones being new and unocupied
And my mynde and last will is that if any of my aforesaid sonnes and daughters fortune to decease before their severall daies of marriage that then the sommes of mon’y and plate of him or her and them so dying before they be married as is aforesaid shall remaine come and be equally devided unto such of them as shalbe alive in and uppon the daies of their marriages.
Item I give unto Katherin my wief the rents and proffetts of all the messuages burgaiges landes and tentts with their app’te’nnces heirin above specified and fiven unto the said Robert and Luke my sonnes for and during the naturall lief of the said Katherin my wief So that the said Katherin my wife doe puttin sufficient suerties to stande bonde unto myne overseers herein named that she the said Katheren my wief at her proper costes and chardges from tyme and at all tymes well and sufficientlie shall repaire mainteine upholde and mend all and singuler the said messuages burgaiges and tenements with their app’te’nnces unto the said Robert and Luke my sonnes given and bequeathed as aforesaid for and during the naturall lief of the said Katherin my wief And if the said Katheren my wief fortune to marry Then I give and bequeath unto the said Robert myy sonn one yearlie annuities of three poundes of good and lawfull monney of England at iiij termes of the yere by even porcions to be paid.And to the said Luke my sone one annuitie of fourtie shillings of good and lawfull monney of England at iiij termes or principall feastes in the yere by equall procions to be paied put of the rents and p‘ffytts of my said messuages burguages landes and tenements with there appurte’nnces heirin above soecified and given. Also I give and bequeath to the said Katherin my wief the lease and terme of yeres yet to com of in and to the tything [-ine] of Frampton in the siad countie of Dorset yf she the said Katherin my wief shall so longe live yelding and paying therefore such rents customs and duties which hathe or ought to be paied and borne for the same.And if the said Katherin my wief shall fortune to decease before th’end and termes of yeire yet to com of ane in the saide Tything [-ine] in Frampton befully expired and determined Thrn I give and bequeath the reste of the yeres that shalbe therin to com after the decease of the said Katherin my wief unto the said Robert and Luke my sonnes.And I also gice and bequeath unto the said Katherin my wief the lease and terme of yeres which be or shalbe to com of in and to a certeyne tenement and fullers myll with all and singular th’appurtennces set lying and being in Burton wt’in the parish of Charmister in the said countie of Dorset (yf she the said Katherin my wief shall so longe live) And if the said Katherin my wief fortune to decease before th’end and terme of yeres in the said tenement and fullers myll be fully expired and determyned Then I give and bequeath the rest of yeres that shalbe then to comm of and in the said tenement and fullers myll with t’happurtennces by force of the said lease thereof made unto the said Luke Adyn my sonn (yf the said Luke shall so longe live) And if he the said Luke fortune to deceasee before th’end and terme of yeres in the said tenenment and fullers myll shalbe expired and determined Then I give and bequeath the rest of the yeres that shalbe theirin to com unto the said Robert Adyn my sonne and to my foresaid daughters Edith Mary Alice and Johan and to their addiges during all the terme of yeres in the dame to come.
Item I give and bequeathe unto the said Katherin my wife all such leases as I have of the fraunt of Robert Wylliams esquier , of John Samwaies of Toller F’rm gent, of Thomas Longe of Frome Byllet within the parrishe of West Stafford yeoman and of John Addams of Abbotsbuerie yoman for and during all the terme of yeres that be in their severall leased yet to com (if she the said Katheryn my wief shall so longe live) And if the said Katherin my wief fortune to decease before th’end and terme of yeres in any the said leased shalbe fully expired determined and ended Then I give and bequeath the reste of the terme of yeres that shalbe to come of and in the said leases or any of them unto the said Robert Adyn my sonne for and during out the full estates and termes of yeres in the said severall leases or any of them to come (if the said Robert Adyn my sonn shall so longe live.
And if he the said Robert Adyn my sonne decease before the full end and terme of the said leases or any of them Then I give and bequeath the reste yeres of the same leases not ended unto the aforesaid Luke Edith Mary Alice and Johan my sonne and daughters and to there assignes.
Item I give and bequeath to the most neady and poore people inhabiting within the said borough of Dorchester thirtie shillings to be distributed and given among them by the descrecion of myne overseers in and uppon the daie of my buriall.The residue of all my goods moveable and unmoveable whatsoever they be herein not given nor bequeathed I give and bequeath to the said Katherin my wief whome I make and ordeine and appoynte the sole full and whole executor of this my present testament and laste will. And I make and ordeine name and appoynte my deerlie beloved in Christ and faithfull frendes John [Browlton?]of Frampton gent Roger Adin my brother Thomas Hardy my brother in the lawe and Hughe [Grydlin?] the overseers of this my p’sent testament and last will and that they of the speciall truste and confidence that I have reposed in them will see the same in all purposes intents and trued meaning thereof to be trulie faithfully and orderlie executed and performed and in all points kept and observed.And I give and bequeath to every of my overseers for their paynes and trobules twenty shillings of good and lawfull monny of England,Thes being witnesses.By me Robert Adyn. In the name of God amen the xiiijth day of February in the yere of o’ Lorde God a thousand five hundred three score and nyne and in the twelth yere of the reigne of o’ Soverainge Ladie Elizabeth by the grace of goed quene of England France and Ireland defend’ of the faith etc I Katheryn Adyn of the borough towne of Dorchester in the Countie of Dorset late the wife of Robert Adyn of the said borough towne of Dorchester deceased w’in the dioces of Bristoll being of good and p’fect memorie praises be given to god for the same do make my tesrament and last will in manner and forme folowing
First I comende my soule unto th’ands of almightie God my redemer and maker, And my bodie to be buried w’thin the p’ishe churche of Seint Peter nere the place where the body of my late husband lieth
Item I give to the pore people inhabiting w’thin the said borough towne of Dorchester xxs to be distributed and given them by the discretion of myoverseers hereon named
Item I give to the pore people inhabiting w’thin the parishe of Frampton xs to be in like manner distributed and given by the discrecon of my said overseers
Item I give and bequeath to the pore people w’ch now be or hereafter shalbe abiding w’thin the almes house in Dorchester aforesaid one bushell of wheate to be made and baked in bread and to be given them upon every good Friday the space of fyve yeres from my buriall by my overseers
Item I give to Sir William Woodman parson of the Holie Trinitie in Dorchester aforesaid vjs viiijd

Item I give and bequeth to the said Luke the new furnace over the kitchen the greates newe [sate] the greatest new blasse [crocke?] the seconde best bason & ewer A greate charger three platters three pottingers three saucers and one dozen plates of tyne the pair candelsticks of tynn and the two pottes of tynne standing upon the cupborde in the hall the gold ring of three hopes w’th is engraved thereon,the best fetherbed of downe two pillowes of [idowne?] and pair of fyne shetes one paire of fyne blanketts the best coverlet fyve caroet cushons and half a dozen of napkyne diap of the best the greates carkes of yron two broches the best great kettel and the red brasse panne
Item I give and bequeth to the said Edith my daighter the second greate furnace and the second new [saote] the secong freate brasse crock one greate chardger foure platters iiij pottingers iiij [sav---] the best beades w’ch were sometyme my mothers a chest of cypres w’ch I bought of Robert Gregory one golde ring w’th a turkey the fetherbed now in the custody of the said Robert Adyn my sonne a bolster ij pillowes of downe a paire of fyne shetes a paire of fyne blanketts one fune drap borde cloth half a dozen of borde napyns one of my beist gownes iij of the new cushons of arrye worke a paire of rackes of tron ij broches and one of the best lesser ketteles.
Item I give and bequeth to my daughter Mary the third best furnace the best of the thre greate pannes the thirde greate brasse crock one greate chardger fower platters iiij pottingers iiij [saucrers?] one new latten candlesick the golde ring w’ch was my mothers wedding ring, my seconde best beades one brode ring of gold wh [hed?] engraved on hym, the best fetherbed that I do lie upon a paire of shetes iij pillowes a paire of blanketts a bolster one fyne diap borde cloth one half dozen of napkyns one of my best gownes three of the new cusshions of Arryswork iij rackes of yron ij broches and one of the best lesser kettells
Item I give and bequeth to the aforesaid Alice my daughter, the fourth best furnace one new brasse panne wch I bought of Richard Marsh the thatcher the fourth best brasse crock any ij bracelette of gold one greate chardger iiij platters iiij pottingers iiij saucrers and one of the new latten candlesticks the other fetherbed whereupon I do lie a paire of shetes a bolster ij pillows a paire of Blanketts a Coverlet w’ch sometyme was my mothers one fyne drapborde cloth half a dozen of borde napkyns my third best gowne iij of the new cusshens of Arryswork one paire of rackes of yron two broches one of the best lesser kettle.
Item I give & bequeth to the aforesaid Jane my daughter my greates brewing kettle the panne wch I bought of Austyn Komyng the last brasse crocke one cardger iiij platters iiij pottingers iiij saucrers one of the new latten candlesticks my greate golde ring w’th a rubie my wedding ring one golde ring wherein my mothers name is ingraved the new fetherbed being in the [trunkell?]bedsted in the chamber wherein I lie a bolster iij pillows one other fetherbed w’ch I bought of one Anthony Hassington a paire of shetes [^ - of blankettes] one fyne diapborde cloth half a dozen og borde napkyns my [stamell?] peticote my silke kirtell wth a brade yarde of velvet iij new cushens of arryswork, a paire of rackes of yron ij broches one of the best lesser kettells

Whereas Sr Richard Reade of London Knight by his deed indented beinge date the first daye of February in the xviijth yere of the raigne of o’re Soveraigne Ladye Elizabeth by the grace of god of England France and Ireland Quenne defendor of the faithe &did give graunt bargayne and sell unto me the said Luke Adyn my heires and addignes forever All that messuage or tenenment with thapp’tenn’es nowe and then in the occupac’on of Alexander Dyke lyinge in the p’isshe of Cattestocke in the Countie of Dorset And also all those closes of Lans meadowes and pastures with thapp’tenn’es called or knowne by the name of names of merifield situate lyinge and beinge in the said p’isshe of Catestock in the said Countie of Dorset nowe or late in the tennure or occupac’on of the said Alexanader Dyke or by or of his assigne or assignes And also the said Sir Richard Reade by the same deed did give graunte bargayne and sellunto me the said Luke Adyn all those closes of meadowes or pasture grounds with thapp’tenn’es hereafter menco’ned situate lyinge and beinge in Hollowaye in the said p’isshe of Cattestocke in the saide Countie of Dorset that is to saye two closes whereof one is called by the name of Newe Close and the other by the name of little Close and one nowe in the tenure of occpac’on of Thomas Rogers or of his assignes one other of the said Closes is called by the name of Parke Close nowe in the tennure or occupac’on of Roger Watts or his assignes , one other close is called by the name of Heborough nowe in the tennuure of Walter [-diche] or of his assignes And also all that messuage of teement with the app’tenn’es newley buylded by the said Walter [-diche] lyinge in the p’isshe of Cattestocke And two other Closes with one messuage nowe in the tennure of Robert Tyssarde or og his assignes whereof one close is called by the name of Fursye Close conteyninge by estimac’on iiij Acres and the other is called Merthfielde Close conteyninge by estimac’on v Acres And one other close nowe in the tennure or occupac’on of John Strowde or of his assignes conteyninge by estimac’on iij Acres And all and singuler woodds and underwoods standinge and growinge or beinge in or uppoin the premisses or any p’cell thereof And also the state, right title, interest, use possession reverc’on and demande whatsoev’ which he the said S’r Richard Reade had or of righg ought to have to of and in the p’misses and any p’cell thereof together with all and any the deeds evidence and writing & touchinge or concerninge onely the premisses onely any parte or p’cell thereof To have and to holde all the said messuages or tenements closes of Lands meadowes and pastures and all other the premisses befored by and in the said deed indented menc’oned to be given graunted bargayned and solde withall and singuler th’app’tenn’es and the said deeds evidences and wryting & unto the said Luke Adyn his heires and assignes for ever yelding and payinge therefore yerely unto the said S’r Richard Reade his heires and assignes xijs of lawfill money of England at the feaste of Saint Michael th’archangell onely for all suits services and demannds to be payde beinge lawfully demanded And sute to the Courte of the Said S’r Richard Reade his heirse or assignes to be holdon uppon the Manno’r of Hollowaye once in the yere uppon reasonable summons and warninge As and by the same deede indented amongest diverse other thinfs at large it dothe and may appeare.

I John Adyn the younger of Dorchester in the countie of Dorset Marchant being sicke of bodie but perfect of remembrance ithanks be given to Allmightie God doe make and ordeine my present testament and last will in manner and forme followinge that is to saie
First I give and bequeath my soule into the hands and mercie of Almightie God and my bodie to the earth
Item I give and bequeathe unto my sonne Luke Adyn the somme of five hundred poundes to be paide unto him at the age of one and twentie yeere
Item to my sonne William Adyn I give and bequeath two hundred pounds tobe paide unto him at the age of one and twentie yeeres
Item To my daughter Christian Adyn I give and bequeath two hundred poundes to be paid unto her at the age of one and twentie yeeres or at the daie of her mariage which of them shall first happen
