The FamilySearch digital library contains the following 130 page PDF file: "Van Olinda Families: the Boght-Watervliet-Cahoes branches : with Adey, Clark, Monnik, Schemerhorn, Schweninger and Vandenburgh connections" by Edward Janavel Huth, FamilySearch Book: 593346
Research Notes
- Where possible, I have cross-referenced to existing profiles on WikiTree. However, the only source for the 18th and 19th century information appears to be a family bible and the International Genealogical Index (IGI) so I have not found many matching profiles.
- The very early Van Olinda profiles come under the Project:New_Netherland_Settlers. This project recognises the date of the Treaty of Westminster (24 Oct 1674) as the main cuttoff date for settlers, with an extension to their descendants through 1776.
Abstracts
This WikiTree free-space page essentially contains abstracts of ADEY related genealogical information, comprising the following:
- A Branching Off into a Female Van Olinda Line: Myra Hermans Van Olinda (1869-1953) Weds William Henry Adey (1872-1930) (begins PDF page 23)
- Appendix A Pieter Danielse Van Olinda and Hilletje Van Slyek: A Descendants Report for Eleven Generations (begins PDF page 47; ADEY surname entries on page 52)
- Appendix F William Henry Adey: An Ancestor Report (begins PDF page 97)
Abstract 1
- "Up to this point we have followed a male line of Van Olindas. Now the descent runs through two women, Myra Hermans Van Olinda, a daughter of Abraham, and Myra Harriet Adey, her first daughter."
- "A central reason why we know so little about Abraham is that his daughter Myra Hermans (named after her grandmother, Anna Heermans Van Olinda) was only 12 years old when he and Harriet died. She may have known much more about him than the skimpy information passed down to us through her daughter Myra Harriet Adey. Abraham's first daughter, Isabella (later known as Isabelle, and informally as Auntie Belle) was 26 when he died; she probably knew far more about him than Myra, but Isabella too died long before Carol or I began to look into the Van Olinda family history."
[ED I have omited transcribing the remaining extensive text until this branch of the Van Olinda family is properly identified on WikiTree or FamilySearch and its authenticity confirmed. (SEE Abstract 2)]
Abstract 2
- "This report identifies all of the descendants of Pieter Danielsen Van Olinda known to me."
- "An asterisk following a surname indicates that the person had more than one marriage."
- "The number following a name is the identification number for this person in the genealogical file from which this document was generated."
[ED this so-called RIN number is also now marked in bold]
