Affidavit of Susan Mason - (3)
Affidavit of Susan Mason to be used in an application for the distribution of the personal estate of Joseph Veazie, late of Providence in the State of Rhode Island, deceased.
Susan Mason being duly sworn deposeth and says:
I reside in Walpole in the state of New Hampshire, am the wife of Holland Mason, and am sixty two years of age. My father's name was Joseph Veazie, a son of Benjamin Veazie, formerly of Braintree, in the state of Massachusetts, and a brother of Lemuel and Silas Veazie formerly of said Braintree, and who descendants are now living in that vicinity.
My father had children as follows:
Joseph, Polly, Henry, Lydia, Benjamin, Susan, & Betsey. Of these Joseph, Henry and Polly died unmarried and without issue. Benjamin, now living in Braintree, and Betsey, now living in Weymouth, Mass, were never married. My sister Lydia and myself were the only ones of the family who were married.
Sister Lydia married Thomas Lovis, formerly of Boston, deceased, by whom she had one child only, Francis Lovis, who lived to become of age, and became a lawyer practicing in the City of Boston. Since then, as I have learned, he removed to the West, where he died. His mother, my sister Lydia, died about the year 1823.
At the age of ten years I went from Braintree to Dorchester, where I remained until my marriage to my present husband, Holland Mason, a short time after which we removed to this place where I have remained ever since.
I had no personal acquaintance with the deceased Joseph Veazie, as for the greater part of my life I have been entirely separated from the rest of my family. But as a child of his uncle Joseph, I claim to be one of his heirs at law.
