78th Tank Battalion
The battalion was the first Black Armor Unit formed by the U.S. Army, January 13, 1941. The men reported to Ft. Knox, KY, to begin warfare training in March 1941. The battalion was re-designated the 758th Tank Battalion in May 1941.
