Ahnentafel Ancestor Challenge Format (ACCF)

I. Goal. Encourage participants to Genealogically Define all their direct ancestors up to their 32 Great Grandparents and to post their findings according to the ACCF Calendar.

Rule. If a participant can not genealogically define (GD) an ancestor, they must post the research questions that will help find the missing evidence to complete the profile.

Rule. Participants need to have GD themselves and their parents to participate. As this is more of a challenge to review your pedigree for completeness, you will have better success if you have already identified all profiles in question. Otherwise you will only be writing reasearch questions for the missing ancestors.

II. Overview

A. 1st half of year dedicated to reviewing your Father's side.
B. 2nd half of year dedicated to researching your Mother's side.
C. Each Quarter focuses on a Grand Parent.
1. First Quarter: Paternal Grandfather.
2. Second Quarter: Paternal Grandmother.
3. Third Quarter: Maternal Grandfather.
4. Forth Quarter: Maternal Grandmother.

III. Definitions.

A. Family Group (FG)
B. Genealogically Defined Profile (GDP)
C. Identify (ID)

2nd-4th Weeks - Family Group of 2nd Great Grandfather (Father of Great Grandfather)

  • 3rd Great Grandfather
  • 3rd Great Grandmother

5th - 7th Weeks - Family Group of 2nd Great Grandmother (Mother of Great Grandfather)

  • 3rd Great Grandfather
  • 3rd Great Grandmother

Note: Notice the Nested Family Group of your Great Grandparents. The first week GD's the Family Group of your Grandparent (Identify their parents and your Grandparent's siblings). Each Quarter contains 13 Weeks. Thus, after the first week, you have 12 weeks remaining to GD your 2nd Great Grandparents. We spilt the 12 weeks between your Great Grandparents. This gives you 6 weeks to work on your Great Grandparents Father and 6 Weeks to work on your Great Grandparents Mother.
