The Alabama and Tennessee Vidette Cavalry, 1st Regiment, was composed of eight companies. Companies A, B, C, G, and H were organized at Stevenson and Bridgeport, Alabama from September 10th, 1863 to April 26th, 1864. Companies D, E, and F were organized at Tracy City and Nashville, Tennessee from December 9th, 1863 to February 24th, 1864. The regiment was mustered out of service on June 16th, 1864 in accordance with orders from the War Department.[1]
