January 1, 1946: As I start this new five year diary, may God guide this period of my life.

January 2, 1946: Jack & Bertha & family here yesterday. Alan here today. He paid Mason. No snow now.

January 3, 1946 :Pop and Earl up to Wm D Mitchell's to write out deeds. Got Ralph's and ours.

January 4, 1946: There's always a bright tomorrow for a yesterday of tears.

January 5, 1946: Earl, Enos, and Pop back across Abercomebeck Lake dividing their woodland yesterday.

January 6, 1946: Edna and children here for dinner. Hall and Fred & Pop here tonight.

January 7, 1946: I washed and left the clothes out all night. No snow or howling yet.

January 8, 1946: Bud gone in town to meet Hon. Mason down this afternoon.

January 9, 1946: I washed and ironed. A nice fine day. Hall over to see Hon.

January 10, 1946: Saviour lead me lest I stray. Gently lead me all the way.

January 11, 1946: I was up to Edna's and made two aprons on machine.

January 12, 1946: Mason and Edna here tonight. No howling yet and no frost.
