"Genealogy In America of The Direct Line of Ancestors In the Sloat Family of Benjamin Franklin Sloat - Born 28 Aug 1897"

This is a "made for hire" genealogy penned by an unknown author. It starts with Jan Pieterson Slott, the original emigrant of the SLOAT/SLOTT/SLOT/... line to the "New World" about 1635, with his two sons, and provides the line of descent to Benjamin F Sloat, Jr.

It also includes some history of family and some close relatives in the 1600s - 1700s titled The Colonial Records and Revolutionary War Records of This Line).

In addition, another genealogist added 46 records titled Some Births and Marriages of SLOATs in New Jersey in the 1700s - 1800s. This list includes surnames recorded in the records as: Sloat, Slot, Slott, Slout, Slodt, Slaught, Slod, Sloote.

As noted on page ii, the original document has been somewhat updated, expanded and more formally formatted. It also includes an index of names at the end.

The original text was provided to DESloat by the wife of B F Sloat Jr, Hazel (Mills) Sloat. With the above noted editing and formatting the document was published in The SLOAT Heritage Chronicler, Issue #5, 1991.

SPECIAL NOTE: As part of the formatting for the 1991 publication, the name for each entry was followed by a superscript number used to link to the (somewhat outdated) RootsWeb database of David E. Sloat. These numbers can be entered into the URL https://wc.rootsweb.com/trees/128171/I1/-/individual replacing the number 1 in the /I1/ with the 1-4 digit superscript number in the document (including the capital letter i that precedes the number).

As/If time allows, this document may be converted to a WikiTree document that links the person entries to their WikiTree Profiles instead of the RootsWeb links. But first we need to match the people in this document with those already in WikiTree, and do a lot of profile entries for those not yet profiled on WikiTree.
