No Official Address. This private cemetery is hidden up on top of a mountain. Curtin, Webster County, WV

Directions:

At Curtin, approximately 5 miles North of Webster Springs, WV on Rt. 15 (Point Mtn Road), turn off at the entrance to the Pardee & Curtin Lumber Mill aka Jim C. Hamer Mill. There is a small black and white sign with the Mill's Name. Continue down towards the mill. Continue to the left towards the mill entrance on the dirt road (Rt 15/3). This road looks like a Mill access road but it is a public road the skirts the outside area of the Mill. Continue going around the Mill until you bear to the right and up the mountain. This road crosses railroad tracks (barely noticeable) and then slightly turns and goes uphill. About a 1/2 mile from the Mill, near the top of this hill, on the right hand side is a side dirt road that has two poles framing the entrance with no gate and a fallen sign that arrows to the B.F. Gregory Cemetery. Turn right on this dirt road and continue to the end where it forks. The B.F. Gregory Cemetery is on the hill to the left.

DO NOT ATTEMPT to reach this cemetery in wet, muddy, snow or any bad weather! Even a 4 wheel drive vehicle will NOT make it up or out.

Interments

There are over 50 recorded interments in the B F Gregory Cemetery.

There are several misc pieces of embedded large flat stones (similar to granite) mostly up on top of the hill. These could be markers of graves but with no indication, it is hard to tell. There are also a lot of the funeral home little metal signs with no tombstones.

Condition

Excellent. The lawn and gravestones are kept up regularly.

BUT getting to the cemetery is via a rough and rugged small dirt road. There is only one small gravel drive and it is uphill. When heavy snow or rain, the gravel drive is near impossible to use. Getting to this cemetery is not an easy task and unadvisable with a car. 4 Wheel Drive recommended during good weather only.
