My 2x great grandmother was Elizabeth Beacroft (Beecroft). I have a profile here Beacroft-22. She was born about 1811 in England. My DNA comes up 3 places in England—Soham, which is my Attlesey family, and then Midlands, which is probably my Roe family, and then Yorkshire, where I am assuming my Beacroft line is from. Family lore was that Elizabeth fell in love with a man named Jonas Ayres (in America he became James Hayes), but her parents were disappointed with her choice and forbade marriage. The night she planned to elope they hid all of her shoes. She supposedly ran away anyway, barefoot. To this day, we hate wearing shoes, and they’re the first to come off anywhere we go! I’d love to find the origins and histories of this family. Any leads would be great!
