The Immigrant Ship Bengal's Voyage to New South Wales in 1854/1855
The Bengal, ship, 582 tons, under Captain Oates, from London on 6 November 1854 and later from Southampton on the 17th of November, 1854. After a voyage of 99 days she arrived at Sydney on 25 February 1855.

Voyage Details

From the Emigrant Ships To Australia and New Zealand in 1854-1856 on the Ships List (Last updated: July 14, 2012 and maintained by S. Swiggum and M. Kohli) we see that 10 deaths occurred on the voyage, 3 males under the age of 14 and 7 female passengers also under the age of 14. The Bengal (tonnage 582) departed on 17 November 1854 and arrived 25 February 1855. It was 100 days on the voyage under Surgeon Superintendent: C.A. Becko ? There were: 95 adult males, 82 adult females, 37 males under 14, 55 females under 14, Total souls: 269

... The Bengal is 99 days from Southampton ; she brings 269 Government emigrants, some of whom have suffered from scarlet fever, and to which disease six of their number hare fallen victims.
