This is a collection of coding tips and models for source citation that I find useful to refer to when I'm creating and polishing my WikiTree profiles.

WIKICODE
To hyperlink any WikiTree profile, follow this model:
Name of person
For example,
Betsy Ko
will produce
To create a hyperlink, use square brackets [ ]. Inside these, put the URL followed by a space and then the text that you want to serve as the hyperlink. For example,
Google
will produce
For bullet points, start the line with an asterisk (*). To indent, add additional asterisks.
For numbering, start the line with a number sign (#). To indent, add additional number signs.
To indent text without a bullet point or number, start the line with a colon (:). To indent further, add additional colons.
Enclosing text with 2 single apostrophe marks will italicize it. For example,
Let's italicize this text.
will produce
Let's italicize this text.
Enclosing text with 3 single apostrophe marks will bold it. For example,
Let's bold this text.
will produce
Let's bold this text.
CITE YOUR SOURCES
WikiTree follows the Chicago Manual of Style for citations. If you use FamilySearch, this site usually has a button by the details of a record entry that you can click to generate a citation. This is automatically copied to your clipboard and you can then paste it over to WikiTree. I also use Rob Pavey's Sourcer browser extension. This will generate WikiTree-friendly source citations for you from a number of popular sites. Helpfully, it's also easy to find websites that will generate a properly formatted citation for you in Chicago Style once you feed it the pertinent bits of information.
Here's an example of a source that's cited one time. Using at the end will create an inline citation.

When you click on the "C" in the tool bar at the top of your profile bio box, this will automatically generate your ref tags and then you simply have to paste your citation in between these.
When you are citing the same source repeatedly, you'll want to come up with a nickname for it. In the following example, the nickname is "1901 census".
The first time you cite the source, you would enter:

Subsequent times, you would only have to enter:

How to cite a vital record in your personal possession:
Death Certificate for James Hsien-Hsiung Ko, 3 December 2007, Register No. 359, New York State Department of Health. Copy in possession of Betsy Ko
Example of how to cite a photograph of a headstone that you have taken personally:
North Platte Cemetery (North Platte, Nebraska, USA). Angie Belton's headstone. Personally photographed by Betsy Ko, August 2017.
SOURCING EXAMPLES FROM SCOTLAND PROJECT'S TARTAN TRAIL
Example: John Dove married Isobel Simson on 28 October 1732 in Leuchars.
"Church of Scotland: Old Parish Registers - Banns and Marriages" database, National Records of Scotland, ScotlandsPeople (https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/: accessed 27 May 2020), John Dove and Isobel Simson, 28 October 1732, Leuchars; citing Parish Number 445, Reference Number: 10 358
Scotland's People is the best place to find CENSUSES. You can get sufficient information for citation purposes just by looking at the successful search result. However, if you choose to purchase a digital copy of the record, then you can add that detail in your citation.
Scotland Census, 1871 database, National Records of Scotland, ScotlandsPeople (https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/: accessed 31 March 2022): County: Sutherland, District: Dornoch, George L Mckay, Reference: 047/ 6/ 1; National Records of Scotland, 3 West Register Street, New Register House, Edinburgh, EH1 3YT. Personal copy in the files of Betsy Ko.
