Who was Rachel Bickel parents???? Personal Note to self Will you be able to break this WALL??? Answer good question. Many have listed Rachel Bickel (Bickle) as being born around 1805 in Lewis, Virginia (now Lewis County, West Virginia). Her parents have been listed as George Bickel and Nancy Glassford without source documentation. The problem is that these parents also have birth dates around 1805 making it impossible for them to have Rachel as a child. Part of the confusion could be that George & Margaret did have a daughter named Rachel Bickel but she was born in 1844 and married a William Mays.

Unfortunately, the parent's information has been spread throughout Ancestry.com, Geni.com, etc trees, again without sources and investigation.

An alternative set of parents have been suggested, again without sources: Jacob Bickel (1770-1850) married to a Margaret (abt 1770- ).Jacob and Margaret Meese were married on 4/12/1848, the only child listed I could fine is Rachel, her grandparents on the Bickel side were Johann Jacob Bickel 1743 - 1805. and Margaret Cogar 1743 - 1805.

This new information was sent by a 5th cousin 1 time removed. New information has come to light. John Michael Bickel 1771-1805 father of Rachel Jacob Bickel 1743-1805 father of John Then the person goes with his line to Barbara Bickel who son Elihu McGlaughlin MD 1843-1862 .
