History
Owners
During the 16th Century the farm was subordinate to Göksholm in the parish of Stora Mellösa. Then, in the beginning of the 17th century, the main farm of Hyltingenäs came to belong to Bengt Sparre and his family, which led to the estate changing its name to Sparreholm. The main farm changed owners throughout the years. In 1886 Björkhult got its current name and at the same time Sparreholm was bought by Gustaf Fredrik Bonde, who sold it to Emil Quensel Dickson in 1893.
Björkhult was sold off from the main estate in 1919. The buyer was the company Backa-Hosjö AB, who sold it to landlord Helmer Nilsson in 1938. Ten years later it was sold again, this time to landlord and member of parliament Emil Elmvall. The Elmvall family owned the estate until 1987 when Ilkka Sarrinen bought it and turned it into a horse stud.[1] Only two years later the farm was sold at a compulsory auction.

Njord Förvaltning AB became the next owners but during the following years until 1993 it changed owners several times.[1] The farm was once again put up for compulsory auction.

Billy Carlsson and Klas Erlansson, along with three other people bought the farm and owned it up until 2006 when it was bought by Anna Karrinen who also owned Sparreholm Castle, and thereby returning the farm to its original posiiton under the larger estate.[1]
