Goals
This is a One Name Study to collect together in one place everything about one surname and the variants of that name. The hope is that other researchers like you will join our study to help make it a valuable reference point for people studying lines that cross or intersect.
There are many Blackwell lines being worked on.
English, Irish, Welsh, and Scot lines:
My line is the Derbyshire Blackwells of Blackwell near Taddington. This is a pre Conquest line with documentation going back to the 1400s and scattered references back to the Domesday book : https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Blackwell-4354 and their likely descendants, my better documented, Blackwells of Litton and Great Hucklow (part of Hope) https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Blackwell-1111 David C. Blackwell ancestors.

This is for private research only not for publication without permission of the manuscript holder - the Sheffield, Matlock, or Lichfield Record Offices.
Blackwells of Eyam, Derbyshire - https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Blackwell-4226 and his grandson https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Blackwell-4335 Several people have been researching this, many not on wikitree. This is almost certainly related to the Blackwells of Blackwell near Taddington in Derbyshire, but documentation linking them is missing.
There are also Watford Blackwell and the Blackwell Bookstore (Basil Blackwell) lines. and several other British and Irish Blackwell lines. TBD...
American lines include:
Cape Cod and Maine Blackwells - https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Blackwell-215 https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Blackwell-4357 Maine Blackwells This is from the 1960s NEHGS Register article on the Cape Cod Blackwells and from a manuscript by Ben Blackwell of Winslow, Maine on his Maine Blackwells who are descendants of the Cape Cod Blackwells.
Blackwells of New York and New Jersey - https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Blackwell-485 David L. Blackwell was the primary researcher of this line but he died recently, so others are taking over. Please let me know if you are interested in coordinating this line.
Blackwells of Virginia - https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Blackwell-514 of New Kent and York county Virginia and his son? - https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Blackwell-582 Joseph Blackwell of Northumberland, Virginia
and may other lines.
Georgia Blackwell include descendants of Davidson Blackwell b.Oct 7, 1809 Franklin Co. Georgia: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Blackwell-3898
There are many conflicting lines and better documentation is always needed for all the Blackwell lines. I have a lot of English research in my notes that needs to be put online, and I have several American Blackwell genealogies and notes that also need to be put online here.
I also have a good deal of pre 1500 Blackwell notes of Derbyshire that I am not yet authorize to add in.
I will add more later as I try to figure how one names studies work on wikitree,

The introductory page mentioned the Blackwells of Blackwell's bookshop in Oxford and London. I attempted to track that family, but only could get back to 1800 or so. I have always been curious if they were from Oxfordshire, or from somewhere else, and only went to Oxford for the excellent marketplace for books it is.
I was sad to see that David Blackwell, whose name is on the info I was sent by Wikitree, is no longer with us. Has someone else picked up the honor?
