Hello! and welcome to the Blois Name Study.
UNDER CONSTRUCTION - Please send me a message if you see mistakes or have more information. THANK YOU :)
This is a One Name Study including the many variants and I hope you will join me in my quest.
My long time ago grandmother, Rose Bloise was born about 1640. Her marriage to John Cooper on October 20, 1663 in Old Newton, Suffolk, England is all I have.
I hope that other researchers like you will join the study to help make it a valuable reference point for people studying lines that cross or intersect.
Please send me a private message Wendy Jones or post a comment on the right hand side. Any questions? Please ask. Thanks!!
Name Variations
Blais, Bleitz, Bleys, Bloice, Blois, Bloise, Blooijs, Blose, Bloss, Blosse, Blows, Blowes, Bloyce, Bloys, Bloyse, DeBlois
Biography
BLOIS, ETC. BIRTH, BAPTISM, MARRIAGE, DEATH, BURIAL
Click on the underlined link above to go to the page. Once loaded, click on the county you wish to view. Mainly Suffolk, but other countries represented as I find them.
As I was researching all these different internet sites for any spelling of Blois, I thought I might as well make up a workbook for everything I found.
Genealogically speaking, please remember the spelling of the last name you are looking for is only as good as the clerk who originally wrote the entry AND if it is hard to read - the good people transcribing the pages have trouble too!! :)
I am still adding to this, so check back often.
In 1201, Robert de Blois was party to a suit, Essex (RCR), and 1220 again;
In 1226, William de Bloys was bishop of Winchester; and
In 1250; Alexander Bleys is mentioned in Gloucester.
Many more names to uncover.
