History/Timeline
Boyd County was formed in 1860 and Catlettsburg was selected as the county seat. Boyd County is in the Huntington-Ashland, WV-KY-OH Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Government Offices
- The first courthouse was a brick structure built in 1860. The building was completely destroyed in 1910.
- The second and present courthouse was constructed in 1909 to 1910.
- The County Justice Center was constructed in 2008 to 2010. [1]
