Quick question.. I thought "shire" was a post-1535 adaptation, when England organization took over, which would make having Brecnockshire as birth place seem wrong for a ruler of Brecnock born in the early 1000s. Is it ok in this case to have "Brecnock, Wales"? (I arrived on this page when I went looking for what the "correct correction" would be for "Breconshire", which the profile for Maenyrch ap Dryffin, born c1015, has now.)

Thanks!

Brecknockshire is the most correct form to use. That is especially true for categorization.

When the Wales Project was re-formed a couple of years ago it was decided to use only the 13 Historic counties for post-1284.

Thanks - but what about pre-1284?
