Brittons of Ireland DNA Group Project

This is an autosomal DNA project that encompasses all those with ancestors from Ireland carrying the Britton surname and it's derivatives. The project aims to unite the BRITTON families living in Ireland in the late 18th century and to establish their origins. It is generally thought that they arrived in Ireland during plantation and may have originally come from Scotland.

This page has been set up to assist members of the Family Tree DNA Brittons of Ireland Project. The Brittons of Ireland DNA Project is being used for BRITTON and all variants, including, BRITTAIN, BRITTAINE, BRITTEN etc.

For more information on the FTDNA Brittons of Ireland project at Family Tree DNA please click and join here.

Once you have joined the Brittons of Ireland FTDNA Group Project, please post your Name, Kit ID, EKA, and Pedigree to the comments section at the end of this page.

This project is not analysing Y-DNA or mtDNA. If you are a male carrying the Britton surname and you have had your Y-DNA tested please join the Britton Y-DNA Project (see below).

Pedigrees

We encourage our members to add their direct 'Britton' line to Wikitree, a free one world tree which helps unite our families.

Once you have joined the Brittons of Ireland FTDNA Group Project, please post your Name, Kit ID, Earliest Known Ancestor (EKA), and Pedigree to the comments section below. If you need help with this send a private message to the project administrator Veronica Williams.

Categories

We plan to categorise profiles on Wikitree as follows:

  • The patriarchs of all our project testers (oldest male 'Britton' ancestor) will be shown here.
  • The matriarchs of all our project testers (oldest female 'Britton' ancestor) will be shown here.
  • Ancestors who are considered DNA confirmed can be found Category:Brittons_of_Ireland_Project_DNA_Project_-_DNA_confirmed.

Instructions for how to add these categories are contained on the project 'Category page' which can be accessed here.

Ok, we are back to needing the Category: Brittons of Ireland Project DNA Project - DNA confirmed to be deleted. Just find it and change it to the other name. (this one is the one you kept:Category: Brittons of Ireland DNA Project - DNA Confirmed)

Thanks, Natalie
