On October 3, 1866, part of Lot 6, Concession 5 of Bathurst Township was sold to Isaac Hamilton, Thomas Kirkham, William Morrow, Thomas Milligan, George Buchanan, and William Buchanan for 5 shillings, by Donald McKerracher and his wife, Sarah (White) McKerracher.

A small frame church once stood at the location. The earliest burial in the cemetery is believed to date to 1879.
