History
Joseph Jenkins owned Brookland Plantation on Edisto Island, Charleston County, South Carolina.[1] Brookland Plantation, also called Brooklands was a prosperous indigo plantation at the time of the Revolutionary War.[2] In the future it would grow "Sea Island Cotton".[3] Joseph Jenkins died 22 November 1789 at age 56. There is a small family cemetery on the site as well where Joseph Jenkins and his wife Martha are buried.[4][5]
