Information: The original site of the cemetery was near the Butteville school. The land for the current cemetery is made up of a two-acre procurement from Francis Cone in 1903, along with a late one-acre procurement from A. H. Cone. Presumably the graves from the original cemetery were relocated here, as the cemetery claims a date of 1836, one of the oldest cemeteries in the state.

There are two large signs at the cemetery; one gives the name as simply "Butteville Cemetery," while the other gives the name as "Butteville Pioneer Cemetery."
